IRRIGATION SYSTEM DESIGN -NEW SYSTEMS AND RENOVATION

A Cradle-to Cradle service. If a landscape architect prepares the planting and hardscape plan, we take those plans and add irrigation elements, details, specifications, and engineer's estimated construction costs.

We also suggest changes to the ways the plant ecology will be managed. To do this, we provide you with a means to measure, monitor, and verify root zone and plant health and development.  This design phase must consider the transition from standard cultural practices to measurement-based decision support programs.  We must also have the discussion about trend data versus absolute data if the latter would be too costly on a continuous basis.

Site visits and design meetings are required, but not expensive. Systems with flow monitoring, soil moisture feedback, and fertilizer injection are included (with arguments for them provided) to MEASURE, VALIDATE, and INSURE your return on investments. There are product and service alternatives to meet any budget, opportunity, land use, and need.

Call for a proposal.  Together we will prepare Scope of Work custom tailored to your needs and concerns.

LAB-FIELD MONITORING

For projects not enjoying the Design and Planning Services described above, we provide a phased approach.  It all starts with a simple plant ecology diagnosis, followed by early-recommendations.  Then, we propose appropriate permanent lab-field monitoring methods, routines, systems, and practices that suit the site, and asset value, and your return-on-investment requirement. Either we conduct the program, or we train your people in the techniques.

Why do you lack verifiable information about the health and status of the plants around you, your farms, your facilities? Are those that you pay to manage you living plant matter keeping secrets from you?  Is there some kind of "information is power" trip going on?  Job security?

We believe it is rarely so sinister.  First of all, as an independent coach for advanced horticultural services, we have NOT been aggressive enough in informing the market of what we do, and how it makes reasonably significant economic sense to conserve and be socially responsible.

But at the root of the matter, we believe it is simply because it takes hard work and study to characterize your site, defining the potentially diverse and dynamic plant ecology which you own. To face the fact that it will cost you money to begin to isolate the most probable threats and the opportunities is an inconvenient truth.

We assert that few are willing to dig deep and propose corrective measures that will stand up to peer review.  Living plants aren't that easy to rank by condition at first glance.  The only defensible prescription takes diligence and independence from manufacturer's, distributors, and sales personalities.  Water Balance employs a loose, pragmatic internal quality assurance policy that makes sure the right set of eyes and tools are bearing down on YOUR specific needs, opportunities, and threats.

To understand soil is to undertake science.  Fortunately, 2 simple  tests, conducted over a rational grid spacing, can give us the fundamental basis we need.  Letting Water Balance coach you (or your maintenance company) from "the batter's box to around second base" is getting you and your plant ecological conditions on the way to measured-thrifty greenery.   See this link:  Soils_alt

We need to start here before we begin to analyze the irrigation system, agreed?  Let me visit to try and explain better.
